Reflection for week 5

Due to class cancelled on week 4, so i will just move to week 5. So week 5 basically is about our presentation for assignment 1. Well, we are told to do 5 educational websites for children and list down their pros and cons. While listening to my friends' presentation, i learn a lot from them. This is because most of the websites are different and I can know about the advantages/disadvantages. All the websites are totally amazing. Some really have attracted me to play non stop either and i did have the urge to 'explore & understand" more on the websites.
Okay, let us have a look on the websites I have found. There are six of them : Mother Goose Club,
Fun School, Learning Planet, Starfall, KBears and NickJr.

Mother Goose Club - Rhymes and Songs

Fun School

Learning Planet - Can choose grade and teacher can create quiz

Starfall - One of the top website. It has many activities for children and more to reading

KBears - More to Bio stuff & difficult for children below 7 to understand

NickJr - I like this the most because it's really so adorable and fun to play

In a nutshell, all the websites we have found did have pros and cons. It depends on us how to use it and the way we presented in the class. The end for today. :)

Reflection for week 3 - World Wide Web

This week is about World Wide Web. The definition of  World Wide Web (WWW) is a subset of the internet. It is a system extensively interlinked hypertext documents. The web consists of pages that can be accessed using a web browser. Computer network consisting of a collection of internet sites that offer text, graphics, sound and animation resources through the hypertext transfer protocol.
One of the WWW Dr show us is ABC MOUSE. It is a very interesting website. There is so many things children can learn from there. But too bad only free for the first 30 days. :(

In my opinion, with the help of WWW, it makes our life easier. We can gain so much knowledge with just a click. Everything around the world could be found in WWW. Seriously, it helps us to do our assignments either. XD If now still do not have all these, i don't know how to survive here. Imagine if want to get information, we have a go library and search all the books. Now just need laptop and wifi will settle. 

Reflection for week 2 - Search Engines

Dr taught us about search engines. I just realized that there were so many search engines out there. Some i don't even see before. Such as Dogpile, Vivisimo, Mamma, Yahoo kids and etc.

"Search engines are programs that search documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found. A search engine is really a general class of programs, however, the term is often used to specifically describe systems like Google, Bing and Yahoo! Search that enable users to search for documents on the World Wide Web.-www.webopedia.com"

Besides, I found one that is interesting- ECRP ( Early Childhood Research and Practice). It will be useful for me as I am taking early childhood course. I can get the latest update and be alert of what is the issue faced in the early childhood education. One more caught my attention - Yahoo Kids. It has lots of things you can do such as games (the one kids like the most), movies, sports, E-cards and so on.  Children surely can play and even learn through this search engine. 

This game is called Moshi Monster. I totally falling in love with the graphic. It is so adorable!!

Reflection for first week

   Internet and teaching is my minor course for current semester. I am glad that lecturer still the same - lovely Dr. Chin Hai Leng. Well, last semester Dr taught us a lot about different teaching tools. There included presentation tools such as Prezi. I like Prezi the most because  it is very interesting and the way it presented also different from PowerPoint. You can zoom around in Prezi to visualize your ideas.

And for now, we are given two assignments. One is individual work which need to give comments on 5 early childhood educational websites. Below is the example that i have found and feel that it is useful.

This website has different kind of worksheets for example math, phonic, science and etc. Teacher can print out those worksheets to students and even can create your own worksheets. Isn't it wonderful? Besides, it has videos, songs, activities, flash cards and many more to make the students have the interest to learn.

 While another is about to create a website which contain information, activities, tools and so on for early childhood's teacher based on the subject that choose.

Furthermore, this is the first time i learn blogger. I know this sounds....outdated but seriously, now only i use it for writing reflection. Blog is one of the way to share and speak out what is happening around you. If you are a shy person and find no one to talk to, blog would be your best friend. I admire my friends and the famous blogger who write about their life or food. To me their blog are so awesome and make me have the interest to know their updates. So really sorry if my blog bored you, i not really know how to express myself and my English is totally FAIL or BAD. Plus i am a NEW user.

Recently, my friend introduce me about See Yin.
